Historical Information

Adopted 5 November 1975. The two stars represent the two main islands of the nation: Sao Tome and Principe. The red stands for the blood shed in the struggle for independence, the green is the colour of the rich vegetation and the yellow represents cocoa, which is one of the main agricultural products.
