Historical Information

Introduced 3 November 1903, officially approved 4 June 1904. The blue and red are the colours of the main political parties (Conservative and Liberals respectively) and the white denotes peace between them. The blue also symbolizes the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean, and the red stands for the blood of those who lost their lives for their country. The blue star represents the civic virtues of purity and honesty, and the red star is a symbol of authority and law.
