Historical Information

 Adopted 3 December 1959. The flag is based on the FrenchTricoloure. The orange represents the savannahs of the north and the spirit of national development. The green stands for the forests in the south and for the hope of a better future based on natural resources. The white is the colour of the sky and purity, symbolizing unity between the north and south of the country.
